You're not SERIOUS...are you?

My flying buddy Ron can't stop talking about getting a bigger, faster airplane. We looked at this Beechcraft Duke when it was at the hangar at FAST Aviation in El Monte. Then we saw the owner at the fuel pit and started talking to him. He sells airplanes. He's selling this one. There isn't a prettier airplane on the planet. Ron and the guy started talking numbers...trade in the Cherokee 140, carry the 2, devide by 7.....hummmm....Ron's starting to think he can afford it....there's a doctor who was interested in it but backed out...maybe he could become a partner....hey, this isn't so expensive after all! Who knows what will happen?

A reminder to NEVER run out of fuel

I filmed the crew dismantling a 152 that ran out of gas over Burbank airport, they landed short of the field and ended up upside down on top of a car. They were trying to get to El Monte.

Chino for Breakfast

Ron and I were planning to go to Las Vegas today but high winds forced us to reconsider. So, we just hopped over to Chino airport for breakfast. The view of downtown Los Angeles in the early morning was certainly pretty.

More photos from KSBD

San Bernardino International Airport Tower Tour

KSBD is the old Norton Airforce Base. It has been left open but the tower was not manned. That's changing. Rumors of FedEx increasing operations there have flourished after it was announced that the tower will soon be manned. An open house on Saturday, November 8 brought more airplanes into the 10,000-foot runway in one day than it has seen in several months.

Santa Paula Hangar Tour

Flew to Santa Paula today (KSZP) and walked around the hangars until someone invited us in. Pat Quinn was proud of his '46 Luscombe 8A but he really loves his '39 Bucker Jungmann (pictured here). "It's the love of my life," he said, adding "It's the one I'll die with."

Beer Run!

My flying buddy Ron and I flew from El Monte to Redlands, California yesterday to visit the Hangar 24 Brewery. They make their own beer there and we like it. I had my Growler (holds about a six-pack) refilled and Ron bought a Growler. After we got back home it sure tasted good!

It was a cloudy day, we stayed low all the way there and had a great flight.

Michigan Flying

Did I forget to mention that I went flying while I was on business in Lansing, Michigan? I did! So, knowing that I would be in Lansing for 7 days, I contacted Foxbat (Kannan) from the AOPA message boards and asked him if he'd take me for a spin around the Lansing area. He agreed, so we took a little sightseeing trip around the capitol, Michigan State University, and some cool areas.

Wine Trip 2

Here's some photos of the wine crushing process at Rust Ridge. We pitched in a little (very little) and helped out.

Wine Trip 1

Ron and I flew up to his brother's vineyard (Rust Ridge) in Napa (actually, to be more precise it's in the Chiles Valley). This is a diagram of the vineyard we landed in (next door at Eagle & Rose). It's an asphalt runway, I think it was 3500 feet long. Decent shape.
